Consilium Grandum versio duo

Redrafting the CG, one year later

Why redraft?

I've moved a lot, changed a lot, and I need to re-validate my meta-structure to make sensible decisions going forward.

  • I've become relatively good at internalizing the program, and acting naturally from it.
  • I stopped keeping the proper notes I want this CG to reflect reality
  • I can DEFINITELY improve, A LOT

But I'm realizing as I'm reading CG1, I agree + think a lot of this is great.
So is there a need for more structural change here? Or is it just edits?

1. Motivation for this plan (quid movet hoc consilium)

I know well that my productivity is WAY lower than possible, and my potential is huge. I want to broaden this aim towards improving my character, my social impact on immediate friends and family, and my overall well-being. I maintain that although errare est humanus, humans are human by virtue of their defining quid est errare et non errare. And in this spirit, I want to document what it means for me to succeed, and work to critically evaluate mei errores. This is a map for life.

This is a living document, which I can revise at any time.

2. Pillars

These pillars weave in and out of each other, and at the moment are in no particular order

Level 0

  • Accomplish
  • Financially stable
  • Meaningful days, as many as possible

Level 1

  • Ideating new projects
  • Pushing projects into success, completion
  • Physical health and fitness
  • Organization of my workspace
  • Social roles I serve for others
  • Meta, reflection, evaluating performance
  • Appearance to others
  • Fun, romance
  • Learning
  • Documenting
    • Life
    • Projects

3. Scheduling

All this seems like a ridiculous way to organize my time. In hours? I just need to think of something better.

Waking hours: 16h/day = 112h/wk
Driving hours: vary
Eating: 8h/day?
30% social, 30% work, 30% self-care, 10% whatever
= 34h work, social, self- in a week
= ~5h/day avg
= ~3.5 10h days
= ~2 full focused days

(Patrick did 10-9-10-8-6 for M-Fs)

  • This division only works if the spears don't impede each other
  • The division can be tricked by mixing categories (social / work, social / self, self / work, all three?)

Work

38-hour schedule

  • (8h = 3h Pat, 1h Haimeé, 4h study) Spanish
  • (2h = 1h me, 1h Pat) Meta, scheduling the week [this can also happen ad-hoc]
  • (10h) dissertation
  • (8h) RA Ben
  • (5h) RA Minsu
  • (5h) NeededNetworks

Social

Grind work, so you can dive in socially.
Grind social, so you can dive in work-wise.
5 hours social per day is way more than I've been doing in the past.

Self-

Meditation, exercise, fun projects.

FAQ

Can I really get behind my projects?

Short answer, yes. Most of them.

  • For Patrick to become a successful author (because it's good for him, and I want that)
  • For Misbah and I's relationship to continue (because it's good for me, and I like it)
  • To produce a map of science (because it's inspiring and fun, builds leadership capability, data visualization, coding, applicable to my dissertation)
  • To mine something from the NYT (because I feel I owe it to David - why?)
  • Other projects (because I'm interested)
  • NeededNetworks (money, impact, notoriety)
  • Patrick's Twitter
  • Conspiracy Network (fun, impactful, intense, profitable, analysis)
  • ChatBot (huge social impact, extreme notoriety, sexy analytical problem)
  • Skin conductance analysis (academic interest, purely sociological and social psychological aims)
